Since it was introduced, I have used the Think Tank Photo (MindShift Gear) Backlight 26L more than any other camera backpack. It has a great design, great build quality, and it is sized just right for a large percentage of my needs.
Just before leaving for Colorado last week, Think Tank Photo sent me a BackLight 18L and I managed to use it as my personal item for the flights (it is marginally sized for this use). The pack is basically the same as its larger sibling and not much different in size from the Trailscape 18L, though it is more feature-filled including a padded waist belt. The 18L holds two non-gripped bodies with mounted lenses (up to at least a 100-400mm zoom) along with a nice number of accessories and/or additional lenses. In the future, this will likely be the pack I use when I don’t need as much space as the 26L provides.
Need more space? The 36L and new Elite 45L are also discounted with the larger-sized packs having a greater amount of savings (higher price with the same percentage discount). I’m hoping for the opportunity to try the 45L as it looks awesome.
