The Barcelona Media-ICT complex won the award “building of the year” at the fourth edition of the World Architecture Festival 2011. The festival took place in the days between 2 and 4 November in the Catalan capital, and this is the first time that the prize is not awarded to a project abroad. Media-ICT was designed by Cloud 9 and covers a total area of 16,000 metres square which give hospitality to several offices, a multimedia Museum, lab space and a conference room.

These spaces are added other 7,200 square feet underground, in which resides a 200 parking spaces. The exterior of the structure is the most distinctive element of the set and is functional to the objective of reducing energy waste and harmful emissions at the same time is also very particular aesthetic point of view. Inflatable pads make up the exterior facade which, during the summer months, works in practice as a sunscreen that protects against the Sun, then in winter, they can open to capture energy. The district where the building is proposed as the new media and the cultural center relies very complex Media-ICT for better representation.
