Would you take a leap of faith to capture an image like this? Many consider the steep, treacherous, unmarked Kalepa Ridge Trail too dangerous to take on. But for photographer Yu Chen Hou, the risk proved to be well worth the reward:

According to the photographer’s Instagram, Chen Hou nearly lost his balance and tumbled into the the Kalalau Valley below. But, after hours of trekking through thick brush, he was greeted with a rainbow arching across the island’s mountainous terrain and azure shores. Framed by puffy, transient clouds, the landscape in this picture explains without words just what drives adventurers like Chen Hou to climb mountains, brave oceans, and delve deep into our planet’s wildest parts.
